The top 30% of the wall is backfilled with soil, covering the gravel beneath and allowing for vegetation growth, which helps blend the wall with the landscape.

Geogrid

Installed between the wall blocks and the earth at different elevations, the geogrid reinforces the structure by locking the wall into the earth behind it. This ensures stability and helps prevent shifting over time.

Gravel backfill

Gravel is placed behind the wall to help water filter down, keeping it away from the wall surface. This reduces water pressure against the wall, which can otherwise lead to erosion or wall failure.

French Drain System

Positioned at the base of the wall, the perforated French drain collects water that reaches the bottom and allows it to dissipate gradually, preventing water buildup that could destabilize the wall.

Compacted Gravel Base

This compacted base offers a stable, level foundation while allowing minor shifts to absorb natural ground movements, ensuring long-term durability.

Buried block footer

A buried block creates a sturdy, secure base beneath the ground, providing extra support and stability to prevent shifting.

Drain ports

These ports connect to the French drain and are installed on the wall’s front. They serve as an additional release for water, helping drain any excess or residual moisture from behind the wall.

Open Cell Block

The open-celled blocks are designed to interlock with gravel backfill, creating a unified structure. Stacked with a slight setback of per row, these blocks resist the pressure from the earth behind them, securing the wall in place.
